Figures show the murder rate in South Africa has dropped 6.5 per cent in the past year. There is no one reason for the decline but many suggest that a raft of community-based initiatives have played a role. One such initiative is a night time football league. Amandla Edu Football is based on the simple idea that most crime happens at weekends, and in the evening. The premise is that potential perpetrators of crime are kept busy playing football.
