The new metro system in Algiers will begin to take passengers Tuesday, thus becoming Africa's second metro transportation system after Egypt's. Algeria's President Abdelaziz Bouteflika inaugurated the long-awaited underground rail network in a ceremony Monday. However, the project has been plagued by delays, being almost 30 years in the making. And there are some criticisms over the high cost of tickets.
