Dakar commemorates the 10th anniversary of Leopold Senghor's death

The Senegalese capital, Dakar, this week commemorates the 10th anniversary of the death of the poet and statesman, Leopold Sedar Senghor. Senghor was Senegal's first president after independence and is one of the African leaders credited with inventing the philosophy of négritude, which inspired a generation of black thinkers.
