Extraordinary Eritreans series part II: Tsedal Yohannes fights for her family

Issued on:

Eritrea is ruled by one of the most oppressive governments in the world.  Rights groups estimate that between five and ten thousand Eriteans have been imprisoned for opposing the government, usually indefinitely and without trial. This extends to politicians. In 2001 the regime emprisoned 15 politicians opposed to the President. One of those politicians currently detained is Petros Solomon, former Minister of Marine Resources. His wife, Aster, was then arrested in 2003. Tsedal Yohannes is Aster's sister. In part 2 of our series extraordinary Eritreans, RFI meets Tsedal in London.
