African education series pt 3 - Zimbabwean teacher in South Africa

Issued on:

Over the past decade close to one million Zimbabweans are estimated to have migrated to South Africa. While many undertake odd jobs in farms and mines, some skilled professionals are making it in their country of exile. They include teachers. Zimbabwe had one of the highest literacy levels on the African continent prior to the current political and economic crisis and South Africa has benefited from the brain drain, especially in the education sector. The third part of our series on education in Africa visits Cape Town.
