Voters return to the polls in Zanzibar, the Tanzanian archipelago, on March 20, five months after their ballots cast in the October 2015 election were annulled. The legacy of mistrust between rival parties is viewed from a historical perspective by Emma Hunter, lecturer at the University of Edinburgh and author of "Political Thought and the Public Sphere in Tanzania". Dar es Salaam University lecturer Richard Mbunda tackles the Zanzibar issue from a current political perspective.
