Caring for children with cancer in India

Issued on:

The annual number of new cases of childhood cancer exceeds 200,000 worldwide and more than 80 per cent of these are from the developing world. About 45,000 cases are detected each year in India alone. Tragically, while survival rates rise in the west, only 20 per cent of children detected with cancer in India benefit from advanced medical care, translating into an unacceptably high number of children dying of their disease.
