Myanmar government accused of involvement in killing Rohingya Muslims

Issued on:

Human Rights Watch has accused the Myanmar government of being involved in the ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims in Arakan state. In a 153 page report, the New York-based group detailed how - as violence broke out between Buddhists and Muslims last year - villages were burned to the ground, civilians were hacked to death and bodies were dumped into mass graves. It claims it all happened with the help of Myanmar's security forces.
