Magritte, the unknown sculptor

Issued on:

The paintings of René Magritte are some of the most recognisable from the surrealist movement – the man wearing a bowler hat but whose face is an apple, for example; or the painting of a pipe, with “This is not a pipe” written underneath it – but did you know that Magritte also sculpted? Five of Magritte’s little-known sculptures are on view at the moment at the ARTCO gallery in Paris.
