"A State of Mind" - ASM - is a multi-national hip hop trio specialised in exploring new horizons like graphic novels, video, horn-heavy orchestras and Homer's Odyssey. They talk to RFI about their latest gem The Jade Amulet.
Green, FP and Fade are from Canada, Germany and the UK. Hip hop tends to be about "representing your locality," says Green. "For us it was never that, we represent a spirit rather than a geographic locality."
That spirit is rooted in positive hip hop "free creative expression... and love."
Their new album - a "cinematic hip hop odyssy" called The Jade Amulet embodies that free spirit to the full.
Leaning on the literary tradition of classic man tales like Homer's Odyssey and Star Wars, ASM weave their own interpretation to tell a timeless tale - both great and yet "everyman's story".
