Iran jails journalists as election approaches

Issued on:

At least 15 journalists have been arrested in Iran over the last three weeks. This comes a few months ahead of the country's general election and is a reminder of the crackdown that occured on the media following the 2009 post election unrest. Iran specialist Roxanne Farmanfarmaian believes these recent clampdowns reflect political infighting and explains why it wasn't just political journalists who were targeted.
