Rare disease day puts focus on research and care for sufferers

Issued on:

Today is rare disease day. A rare disease is one that affects fewer than one in 2000 people. There are thousands of them, but sometimes they only affect a handful of people. Here in France, some 3 million people have some kind of rare disease. They are represented by an alliance that encourages public authorities to invest in research and provide care for sufferers of little-known ailments. RFI has this profile of one family coping with a rare disease.
