EU tightens arms embargo on Syria

Issued on:

The European Union yesterday called for more humanitarian aid for people fleeing Syria, and also tightened sanctions on the Syrian government and a number of high-ranking officials. The EU also decided on closer monitoring of the arms embargo with more inspections of international cargos. This, as the Syrian authorities said they would use chemical weapons against invaders in case of a foreign military attack. RFI discussed the issues with Julian Barnes-Dacy, of the European Council on Foreign Relations in London.
