Fifa scandal: Jack Warner banned for life from football activities
Former Fifa vice-president Jack Warner on Tuesday was banned for life from football, according to a statement from the football world governing body. The 72-year-old’s ban covers all football-related activity at both a national and international level.

The former Caribbean federation president was “found to have committed many and various acts of misconduct continuously and repeatedly”, a statement from the Ethics Committee said.
In his time as a football official in different high-ranking positions within Fifa and Concacaf (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football), Warner “was a key player in schemes involving the offer, acceptance and receipt of undisclosed and illegal payments, as well as other money-making schemes.”
Warner is currently fighting extradition from Trinidad and Tobago to the US to face charges of wire fraud, racketeering and money laundering related to a Fifa corruption scandal.
US authorities applied for Warner’s extradition in July. He is accused of buying television rights for two World Cup tournaments for grossly deflated sums.
Warner has served as Fifa vice-president and president of Concacaf and the Caribbean Football Union. He has also previously been a member of parliament.
