Police found the stationary car on the orbital road, the périphérique, at 1.30am and took its driver in for questioning.

He proved to be so drunk he could not even blow into the breathalyser.

A blood test showed 3.12 grammes of alcohol per litre.

The man had already been found guilty of drunk driving five times. In 2007 he was put on trial for injuring someone in an accident and trying to flee the scene of the crime, according to police.
