French encourage media to be actors of change

As the newsroom saying goes “If it bleeds, it leads”. Fear-based newsprogramming is popular and widespread but can the media take part in finding solutions to the world’s problems? French-led initiative Sparknews – a global campaign to promote social action - believes it can. It launched Impact Journalism Day last year and, ahead of the second this year on 20 September, invited leading media to present their social action initiatives.
